Holiday Blues

Holidays are the hardest time of the year for many people, for many reasons. When the person you love is incarcerated, its compounded ten fold, I think. All of the holiday traditions are somewhat dulled by the fact that your spouse, Dad, mom, son, daughter, significant other is not physically present.

I make it a point for my family and I to spend every holiday, every birthday, every special anniversary with my husband. Even if its only a few hours, its significant because our memories include the moments we shared together. I still feel sad when Im celebrating with the extended family because my other half is not here but knowing we brought some love and light to him earlier that day helps.

So this holiday season try to make it special, make it count, make that memory beautiful, and when you go home know you made that holiday count for them even if for just a little while.

I wish everyone a happy, healthy and blessed holiday season. Lets all pray our loved ones are safe and healthy and we're one Christmas closer to the one when they'll be home!

Peace & Love
